Energy HealingSo what is Reiki, Anyway?

Reiki is a Japanese energy-based practice that works with the body's subtle energy through light touch or hands-off techniques. It is often used to encourage relaxation, grounding, and a greater sense of calm within the nervous system. At Get Grounded RVA, Reiki is blended with meditation, breathwork, sound, and other grounding practices to create a personalized healing experience. Whether you're completely new to energy work or already familiar with it, sessions are shaped around your needs and comfort level.

Healing in communityNever Alone, Never again

Healing can be powerful when we have space to experience it together. Get Grounded RVA brings the world of Reiki into Substance Use Disorder recovery, behavioral health, workplace wellness, and community spaces, creating opportunities for people to experience the practice in a group setting. In a world where life's stressors can become isolating, group sessions create space for connection, grounding, and safety where we belong—together.

Group experiences are thoughtfully customized to meet the needs of the people you serve.

About Steph + Our Approach

Get Grounded RVA was born from my own experience navigating a mental health and spiritual crisis and realizing just how difficult it can be to access care when traditional options aren't enough. I found myself looking beyond the systems I had relied on and, in a time of desperation, discovered the world of Ketamine Infusion Therapy (KIT), Reiki, the mind-body connection, and a slew of other holistic healing arts through a trauma-informed lens. From my earlier years of studying canine psychology and behavior as a dog trainer, the path curved towards humans and why we also do what we do; and how those things serve or underserve who we really are.

The thing is, I already knew how to ‘talk the talk’ of healing, without ever experiencing what an embodied sense of healing was.

Simply put, I didn't feel safe enough to let it in. I was stuck in my head and out of touch with my body and soul. But within these practices and therapies, I realized that I had power, agency, and autonomy already within me. I could release what was no longer mine to carry and start witnessing myself in peace. I just needed a space to unpack and encounter myself authentically. And that is where the magic started to happen. I reached the conclusion that recovering from the things we often are so scared to talk about starts with safety. We can't change, until we feel safe. Sometimes talking isn't the safest to the body of the trauma survivor. Traditional wellness and recovery methods can, for some, make healing one more thing to pass or fail and approach from a place of shame and fight or flight activation. My approach is one that shows the individual that the present moment can hold peace and insight that is uniquely their own, without having to earn it. They only need to learn how to access it. How do we access the present? We "get grounded."

Why Accessibility Matters

As I found my way into holistic healing, one of the biggest things I noticed was how easy it was to feel like I didn't belong there. So much of the wellness world exists behind expensive price tags, polished studios, and the assumption that everyone has the time, money, and resources to prioritize their healing in the same way.

I believe healing belongs in more places than that.

It belongs in recovery houses. In behavioral health programs. In community centers, jails, workplaces, parks, and living rooms. It belongs with people who are figuring life out, people who don't consider themselves "spiritual," and people who may not have the resources to walk into a boutique wellness studio and spend hundreds of dollars on a session, and who need relief, too. I figured out that it can look like minutes and moments of peace—a reprieve from life on life's terms.Healing shouldn't be something you have to look, live, or feel a certain way to access. Because, well, that's just not fair.

Individual Sessions (that actually fit your needs)

So... What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese healing art based on the idea that universal energy flows through all living things. A trained practitioner uses light touch or hands-off techniques to work with the flow of this energy, supporting relaxation and a sense of balance within the body and the seven energy centers, known commonly as the "chakras." Common energetic blockages involve unprocessed emotions, stress, and environmental or personal traumas. Reiki helps to balance out the flow of energy throughout the Nervous System, encouraging better overall wellbeing.Reiki healing can be experienced on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. During a session, you may notice changes in physical sensations, an increase in mental images, emotions, thoughts, or simply a deeper sense of relaxation and peace. While Reiki is a practice that can be difficult to put into words, the experience itself is often much easier to understand.

Potential Benefits

People seek out Reiki for a variety of reasons. Potential benefits may include:

  • Reduced chronic pain symptoms

  • Improved sleep quality

  • Reduced stress and tension

  • Greater sense of peace and wellbeing

  • Improved relaxation and nervous system regulation

  • Increased body awareness

  • Emotional release and processing

Everyone responds differently to Reiki, and individual results vary. Reiki is a complementary practice and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions. **

Healing in community:Something for everyone, somewhere for everyone

GROUP SESSIONS

In my work with groups, my goal is simple: to offer a reprieve for the nervous system when even healing can start to feel like part of a long, stressful checklist. We deserve to rest and recover, and it's essential that we do. Guilt-free and risk-free. Sometimes you just need time to stop. To breathe. To get out of your head for a little while and give your body a break from being on high alert.Group sessions bring the experience of an individual energy healing session into a shared space, combining elements of somatic practices, grounding techniques, breathwork, meditation, visualization, and hands-on or hands-off energy healing.Whether it's an introduction to spiritual wellness or a continuation of an existing practice, groups help keep these experiences accessible. For the time we have, group participants get to slow down and let someone else guide the process. Their only job is to breathe and receive.

So... What Actually Happens?

We start with a brief introduction, a little conversation around the session's focus, and an intention. Then we move into:

  • Deep breathing + grounding

  • Meditation + visualization

  • Individual hands-on or hands-off energy healing while the group remains in meditation

  • A few minutes to close out the session

WHY GROUPS?

One of the biggest challenges we face when navigating mental health and personal healing is isolation. It's easy to feel like we're carrying everything alone—a mindset that can have serious consequences for our mental and physical wellbeing.Group sessions create an opportunity to experience healing alongside other people, connected by a shared intention. Participants don't have to share their story, speak up, or participate beyond their own comfort level. Connection can happen simply by being in the room and experiencing the practice together.Sometimes connection doesn't have to be a conversation. Sometimes it's just knowing you're not the only one in the room.

WHERE THIS WORK BELONGS

I got my start working with people in Substance Use Disorder treatment, and that work remains a huge part of what I do.But this work belongs anywhere that people are carrying a lot.Recovery programs. Behavioral health. First responders. High-burnout workplaces. Community organizations. LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities. Spaces where traditional wellness hasn't always felt accessible or welcoming.Sometimes making healing more accessible means bringing it to the people who may not have the time, resources, or capacity to seek it out themselves. That's where organizations can help stand in the gap.

FOR ORGANIZATIONS

The secret sauce of group sessions is that each and every one is a little different.Looking to bring a group into your workplace, program, or organization? Sessions can be customized to fit your people, your space, your goals, and the time you have available.Organizational consultations are free.
